A Rare Companion of the Imperial Service Order (ISO), EIIR cypher, gold, silver and enamels, hallmarked Birmingham 1975. Attributed to Philip Henry John Tempero, born in January 1915 in Fulham. Extract from his entry in ‘Who’s Who’:
1958 - Principal Scientific Officer (PSO), Guided Weapons & Electronics, Ministry of Supply.
1960 - Principal Scientific Officer, Ministry of Aviation
1964 - Senior Principal Scientific Officer (SPSO), UK Defence, Research & Supply Staff, Australia.
1967 - SPSO, Ministry of Aviation.
1973 - Assistant Director, Directorate of Electronics Radar (Airborne), Ministry of Defence. 1975 - Awarded ISO (London Gazette 1 January 1976). 1988 - Died (prior to 2 March 1988) age 73. The ISO is awarded for at least 25 years of & eminently meritorious service & in the
administrative and clerical grades of the Civil Service. There were 2153 issues of the EIIR ISO between 1953 and 1994, when the award of the ISO was superseded by the OBE In case of issue with copy letter from the Central Chancery of the Orders of Knighthood addressed to Mrs Philip H G Tempero and referring to his death and copy of London Gazette entry.
