A 1914/15 Trio consisting of the 1914/15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal, all named to: 2325 Pte J Kay A;S Highrs (Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders). Mounted for display on contemporary silk ribbons. Private John Kay served with the 5th Battalion Princess Louise’s Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders (TF) in Gallipoli, where he was wounded at Achi Baba on 17 August 1915. Later, in France, 5/A& SH participated in the bitter fighting for Beugneux village and ridge, and in the assault on Hill 158 on 1 August 1918 during which its Commanding Officer, Lt Col C L Barlow DSO, was killed at the head of his Battalion,
together with its RSM R S Monteith MM, HQ Coy CSM McNab and 30 other ranks. A fine group to a fighting soldier from a distinguished battalion of the Territorial Force With copy Medal Index Card and a research note on Pte Kay and 5/A & SH. Good Very Fine (GVF) condition.
