General Service Medal 1918 with two clasps: ‘S. Persia’ and ‘Iraq’, named to: 4919 Naik Sher Zaman 3 124 Baluch Inf (3rd Battalion 124th Baluch Infantry). The 124th Duchess of Connaught's Own Baluchistan Infantry was an infantry regiment of the British Indian Army, raised in 1820 as the 2nd (Marine) Battalion 12th Regiment of Bombay Native Infantry. It was designated as the 124th Duchess of Connaught and 39;s Own Baluchistan Infantry in 1903 and later became 1st Battalion 10th Baluch Regiment in 1922. In 1947, it was allocated to the Pakistan Army after partition, where it continues to exist today as 6th Battalion of The Baloch Regiment.
The 3rd battalion of the 124th Baluchis was raised in 1917 and served in the operations against rebellious tribesmen in Southern Persia (November 1918-June 1919), in the Third Afghan War of 1919 and during the Arab uprising in Iraq in 1920. Very Fine (VF) condition.
