Still Life by Bui Xuan Phai, 20x28 cm, Color on paper. Bui Xuan Phai (1920–1988) was one of the ”Four Pillars” of modern Vietnamese painting, celebrated above all for his intimate depictions of Hanoi's Old Quarter (Pho Phai). A graduate of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de l'Indochine, he worked in oil, watercolor, and gouache to portray tiled roofs, narrow streets, still lifes, and portraits in a distinctive expressive style. He was posthumously awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize in 1996. This item is held at Cadmore ASIAN Office in Vietnam and will be shipped from there.
