Bidspirit auction | A King Edward VII’s Coronation
A King Edward VII’s Coronation Medal 1902 for Mayors and Provosts. This quite scarce medal was struck in silver only for presentation to Mayors, provincial mayors, Scottish provosts, civic dignitaries and officials who took part in the Coronation celebrations on 9 August 1902. The medal features a different design and ribbon from the general issue Coronation Medal (although both were designed by Emil Fuchs) and, in particular, the obverse bears the effigies of King Edward and Queen Alexandra facing to the right, rather than to the left as with the standard medal. The total number of these medals struck has not been published, but is probably around 530; it is now only infrequently offered for sale. Good Very Fine (GVF) condition.
