[BRITISH 18th CENTURY COSTUME]. The Tea Garden [and] St. James’s Park
Hand-colored, stipple engravings by F.D. Soiron, after George Morland, published London, 1793. 16 x 19 3.4 inches, cropped inside the platemark and laid-down to artboard, inside glazed frames. These two genre scenes by Morland contrast both the dress and manners of the wealthy and commoners of London. A genteel family partakes of tea and cakes served on fine china at a tea garden erected in one of the popular London parks, while the family of a Royal Dagoon refresh themselves with fresh milk served in stoneware mugs. There is some foxing to the latter, the prints themselves are clean and bright. Not examined outside of the frames.
