Xanthus Russell Smith Watercolor of the US Frigate Constitution.
Xanthus Russell Smith (1839 - 1929). Depicting the Constitution, rebuilt above the deck as a training vessel, in Portsmouth, NH in the 1890’s. 9 x 12 inches, sight. Framed, 20 x 23 inches. X anthus Smith served the Union Navy throughout and after the Civil War. He painted Naval vessels and important Navel Battles. His works are in the collections of many Middle and North East American Art Museums.
