Victoria Cross winner Admiral Godfrey Place VC signed 75th ann Lauch of 1st submarine official Navy cover also signed by Lt Cdr R Jones CO HMS Onyx. Godfrey Place won the Victoria Cross in 1943 when, as a 22-year-old lieutenant, he captained the midget submarine X7 during a daring attack on the battleship Tirpitz, the most important unit of the German fleet. X7 and X6 successfully exploded four charges underneath Tirpitz as she lay at anchor in Kaafjord, in Norway, causing severe damage and rendering her unfit for sea until April 1944. Good condition.
