DM4e Distinguished Service Order Signed by 7 Holders Distinguished Service Order, Air Vice Marshal D C T Bennett ( Halifax ) Air Marshal Sir Harry Burton ( Wellington ), Group Captain John Cunningham ( Beaufighter ) was a 604 Sqn Battle of Britain Pilot & became CO of 85 Sqn equipped with Mosquito Night Fighters. He became one of the leading night fighter pilots, was credited with 20 victories & earned the name Cats Eyes. Group Captain Denys Edgar Gillam ( Typhoon ) DSO DFC AFC 616 & 312 Sqn Battle of Britain and World War 11 fighter Ace 7 Victories, Air Vice Marshal J E Johnson ( Spitfire 9 ) Pilot Decorations DFC* DSO** CBE CB Squadrons 616 19 127 Wing 125 Wing. 38 Enemy aircraft destroyed. He received the DFC ( US) the order of Leopold & the C de G ( Belg). He served in the USAF and Korea in 1950. He retired on March 15, 1966, as an Air Vice Marshal. Wing Commander David J Shannon ( Mosquito 6 ) started his operations with 106 Squadron where he took part in one of the early 1000 Bomber raids, and also in the low level attacks on specific targets, flying Lancasters. He was awarded a DFC after completing 36 operations. David continued to serve in 5 Group with Nos 106 & 617 Squadrons, being continuously operational from June 42 until July 44. He was awarded a DSO for his part in the famous Dams Raid, he ended his war service on Mosquitoes and added bars to his DSO and DFC, Group Captain Hugh Verity ( Lysander ). Hugh Verity, DSO*, DFC (6 April 1918 - 14 November 2001) was a Royal Air Force fighter pilot and later a "special duties" squadron pilot working with the Special Operations Executive (SOE) during World War II. He landed many times at clandestine airfields in occupied France to insert and extract SOE agents. Details and photo enclosed. RAF Ref No DM 4e Size 12 ¾ by 9 Certified copy no 362 of 650.
