RAF Colerne Signed Capt H Schultze U - boat Commander U - 48 during WW2. 28 Feb 71 BFPS 1162 RAF North Coates Picture cachet of a Beaufighter. Personally Signed by Capt Herbert Emil Schultze (24 July 1909 - 3 June 1987), was a German U-boat (submarine) commander of the Kriegsmarine (the German navy in World War II).He commanded U-48 for eight patrols during the early part of the war, sinking 169,709 gross register tons (GRT) of shipping. Schultze was a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. Enclosed 4 Black & White Photo's Cover number 34 of 48 in U Boat Series And cover no 15 of Only 100 covers .U Boat Series of 34 issued by famous German historian Hans Rossbach. Only 100 Sets issued. This Cover is part of 48 commemorative covers produced in the middle 70`s by the famous German historian Hans Rossbach. Only 100 covers individually signed by a Knights Cross winner who won the award in the course of his U - Boat duty. All autographs are on RAF covers. Good Condition.
