COF42d Breaking of the Sound Barrier Signed by Peter Twiss Test Pilot first to set Official record faster than 1,000mph. 14 Oct 2004 BFPS 2801 Breaking of the Sound Barrier by Charles E Yeager. Flown Hercules. Personally Signed by Peter Twiss OBE DSC & Bar Test Pilot Fairey Aviation Company 1946 to 1960.Peter Twiss was a Royal Navy Pilot in WW11 flying a range of aircraft from Fairey Battles to Hurricanes and Mosquitoes. In 1946 he joined Fairey Aviation and tested Firefly, Spearfish, Gannet and Deltas 1 and 2. In 1956 he set the World Absolute Speed Record of 1132 mph in Fairey Delta 2..
