Bomber Pilot Len Cheshire VC Signed by W Gordon and L Curtis WW11 with 617 Sqn. 3 Nov 07 The Cenotaph Bomber Pilot Group Captain Leonard Cheshire VC. Personally Signed by Sqn Ldr William ( Bill) Howard Gordon Pilot 617 Sqn. Decorations MBE DFC Squadrons 189, 617, 630, 99, 246. He was Flight Commander with 189 and 617 Sqn. His operation were carried out in Western Europe and hir raids included Brunswick, Munich, Ijmuiden, Urft Dam ( these were not with 617 Sqn ) the Arnsberg Viaduct, Bielefeld Viaduct, Hamburg - U - Boat Pens and Heligoland, with 617 Sqn. Sqn Ldr L W Curtis DFC, Signals Leader on the Tirpitz mission with 617 Sqn. Also with 149, 99 and 158 Sqns and the famous 617 Dam Buster Squadron. His operations were carried out in Europe, North Africa and Russia. Whilst serving with 617 Squadron he flew with Squadron Leader Micky Martin. He flew on many aircraft, the Wellington, Halifax, Fairey Battle, Whitley, Lancaster, Stirling and Mosquito. He was awarded the DFC and Bar. Certified Copy of No 1 of 1. Good condition.
