RAF Topcliffe cover Signed by 1942 Wellington Crew which was Shot Down. SC26d 1 Feb 72 BFPS 1280. 55th Anniversary of the first RAF Night Bomber Squadron. Cover depicts Vickers Wellington B. Mk 3 No 150 squadron at RAF Snaith in 1942 and RAF Topcliffe Badge. Flown in Army Air Corps Beaver XP819 from Snaith to RAF Topcliffe by Major Pullen Royal Anglian Regiment, and flown also in Varsity WF369 of Air Electronics and Air Engineer School from RAF Topcliffe to RAF Wildenrath, Germany, and return by Sqn Ldr Lawrenson. Personally Signed by Gp Capt Randle - Pilot, Scotty Brazil - Navigator and Bob Frost - Rear Gunner, crew members of Wellington BJ877 shown on cover on Night Bomber Raid on Maastricht 16 Sep 1942. The Aircraft was shot down near Maastricht in the Netherlands on 16th September 1942. The crew survived and all but the wireless operator, Air Gunner successfully Escaped 3 Backstamps.
