RAF D-Day Veterans 60th anniv signed Eddie Hannath Anti-Tank Platoon 7th bat. Hampshire regiment WW2 FDC. After landing on Gold Beach on June 10, Pte Hannath found himself on the receiving end of German mortars and artillery just half an hour later. Badly wounded in battle, Private Eddie Hannath crawled for several miles through the Normandy countryside to be confronted by a motorcycle with a swastika emblazoned on it. Unable to walk and exhausted, his heart sank as he considered life as a prisoner of war. But a friendly wave from the rider made him notice the green uniform of a British soldier. The motorbike has been ”liberated” from the enemy and, complete with a stretcher, it carried Pte Hannath, of 7th battalion of the Royal Hampshire Regiment, to a field hospital. . Good condition Est.
