WW2 RARE Wg Cdr E Shipman AFC Dunkirk Battle Britain signed RAF Cover. Also signed by BOB pilot Trevor Gray. Wing Commander Edward A. ”Shippy” Shipman was a RAF Battle of Britain fighter pilot with 41 Squadron. He participated in early wartime actions, including a notable interception on 17 October 1939, and flew Spitfires during the intense combat of 1940. Later becoming a flight instructor and Wing Commander, his memoir is titled ”One of 'The Few'”. Squadron: 41 Squadron (No. 41(F) Squadron). Aircraft: Flew Spitfires, including Spitfire Mk1 ”EB-L” at RAF Catterick in 1939. Key Combat: Participated in the interception of German aircraft on 15 August 1940, where he countered Me 110s and He 111s. Career Highlights: Post-Battle of Britain, he became an instructor, later serving as Commanding Officer (CO) at 3 FIS Castle Combe and in Southern Rhodesia. Awards: Awarded the Air Force Cross (AFC).
