WW2 Battle of Britain K Edwards 600 sqn Stalag Luft III POW signed RAF cover, Also signed by Avis Hearn BOB MM winner. JSF23 Biggin Hill Air Fair cover. Edwards was commissioned in August 1940, Edwards served with 600 until January 1941, when he was posted to 150 Squadron at Newton. He was flying as a gunner in Wellington R1495 JN-B when it was shot down over Hamburg on 16th July 1941. He was the only crew member able to bale out and he was sent to Stalag Luft III at Sagan, going later to the satellite camp at Belaria. Avis Joan Hearn (30 June 1916 - 27 March 2008) was a British servicewoman who served in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF) and was one of only six women in the service to be awarded the Military Medal during the Second World War On 18 August 1940, which became known as The Hardest Day.
