Volumes 1, 2 and 3 of Sources in British Political History 1900-1951, hardback books. A definitive, multi-volume archival reference work compiled by historian Chris Cook and published between 1975 and 1977. The project was conducted at the British Library of Political and Economic Science and funded by the Social Science Research Council. Its core purpose was to systematically locate, catalog, and index the primary source materials and private archives indispensable to contemporary historians and political scientists focusing on 20th-century Britain. Volumes 1 & 2 cover the archives of selected organizations, societies, and public servants. Volumes 3 & 4 provide a guide to the private papers of over 3,800 Members of Parliament and government ministers. Volume 5 catalogs the papers of selected writers, intellectuals, and publicists. Volume 6 serves as the First Consolidated Supplement to the original multi-volume series.Instead of focusing on a completely new sector or distinct demographic, it acts as an archival update. It incorporates newly uncovered or recently deposited private papers, records from various political organisations, and additional materials that became available to researchers after the first five foundational volumes were published. Abebooks has Volumes 1 to 4 for £87; individual volumes range in price from £17 to £137. No complete sets have been found.
