Daniel G. Harris signed 'Observed Secretly Northern Window', paperback book by Philip Chaplin and Daniel G. Harris, 2006, inscribed.Chronicles Harris's time as a British Naval Attaché and intelligence agent in neutral Stockholm from 1940 to 1946. The term ”Northern Window” refers to Sweden, which remained neutral throughout the war but served as Britain's most critical overseas window for intelligence gathering on German military movements. Operating out of the British embassy, Harris and his superior, Captain Henry Denham, managed covert networks that tracked the German Navy in the Baltic Sea. Notably, their intelligence operations yielded early, precise details regarding the location of the German battleship Bismarck in 1941, triggering the historic Royal Navy chase that ended in its sinking. Daniel G. Harris: A British chartered accountant who learned Swedish, joined the Royal Naval Supplementary Volunteer Reserve, and spent the war tracking Axis movements. He later emigrated to Canada, built a prominent career in the Canadian Naval Reserve, and wrote extensively on Scandinavian maritime history. Philip Chaplin: A Second World War veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy who later served as a historian with the Directorate of History in Ottawa, Canada. No signed copies found anywhere.
