Lieutenant-Colonel Eric Charles Twelves Wilson VC (2 October 1912 – 23 December 2008) was a legendary British Army officer mistakenly awarded a posthumous Victoria Cross during World War II. Believed dead by his commanders, he actually survived severe wounds, intense malaria, and an Italian prisoner-of-war camp, living to the age of 96. At his death, he was the last surviving British Army recipient of the VC from World War II
