Royal Navy C/O Lt Cdr F Ward signed Welcome HMS Sandown to the Fleet at Portsmouth 9 June 1989 Naval FDC. Lieutenant Commander F. Ward (Commander Francis Stanley ”Frank” Ward) was the first Commanding Officer of HMS Sandown, commissioning the lead minehunter ship in 1989.
