Ted Wass 617 sqn Tirpitz raid signed WW2 RAF Dambusters 50th ann Cover Rare only 65 issued. Flown by Lancaster PA474 over the Derwent Dam, numbered on the back with flight details on cachet. Special Scampton 50th ann Dambusters Raid postmark. Known as Ted, he worked in the supply department of the RAF before volunteering as aircrew. He was assigned to the famous No.617 Sqn as a gunner on Lancasters, taking part in two of the three major operations against the German battleship Tirpitz. In January 1944 he was forced to bale out over Germany and spent the remainder of the war in captivity. He died in April 2009. Good condition. Part of Single Vendor collection.
