Hardy Bros. Ltd. The Silex No. 2 Alloy Casting Reel - A vintage Hardy Bros. Ltd. The Silex No. 2 casting reel, manufactured in Alnwick, England. The reel is constructed from a leaded alloy with a perforated spool face and a central drum release hub. It features twin white ivorine-style handles and a smooth brass mounting foot. The backplate is equipped with a brass tension adjustment knob and a corresponding indicator dial marked with directional arrows and the words Increase and Decrease. A brass section is integrated into the rim to serve as a line guide. The backplate bears the manufacturer stamps Hardy Bros Ltd. Alnwick, England and The Silex No 2, as well as the patent mark Hardy's Pat. No 2206. The initials W E L T are scratched into the metal on the backplate. Diameter: approximately 4 inches.
