A Collection of WWI British War Savings Ephemera - A collection of First World War era British paper ephemera related to National War Savings. The group consists of two card-covered booklets and one membership folder issued to a Miss Jane Fox between 1917 and 1918. The booklets contain original green paper receipts for one pound certificates, while the membership card houses a sheet of twenty-two unused sixpence stamps. Printed text identifies the National War Savings Association and the National War Savings Committee. The membership card and stamps feature a prominent swastika motif, which was an early 20th century symbol of prosperity used by the British savings movement. Circular postmarks for West Ryde and Arborfield are present on the internal receipts, along with the printed signature of John Bradbury, Secretary to the Treasury. The Swastika does not belong to one German party that used it for only 25 years.
