A Pair of 19th C Walnut Balloon Back Chairs in the manner of Gillows - A pair of late 19th-century Victorian side chairs featuring balloon-shaped backrests and needlepoint upholstery - NO RESERVE The chairs are constructed from walnut with an open, hoop-shaped backrest. They stand on turned and fluted front legs with ring-turned capitals, while the rear legs are square-sectioned and slightly swept back. Each top rail is inset with an oval relief plaque depicting a stag in a forest landscape. A horizontal cross-rail features a central circular marquetry inlay of a stylized foliate motif. No maker labels or stamps are visible on the frames.
