A 19th Century French Faience Saint-Malo Ewer - A late 19th-century French faience souvenir ewer featuring hand-painted heraldic decoration. The pitcher is constructed from tin-glazed earthenware with a distinctive tapering triangular body. It rises to a narrow neck and is fitted with a high-arched handle finished in a mottled blue glaze. The base flares to a wide, three-sided foot finished with a narrow blue border. The front of the neck displays the coat of arms for the city of Saint-Malo, depicting a muzzled dog and portcullis above a banner inscribed 'ST MALO'. A large stylized fleur-de-lis in yellow and orange tones occupies the base, flanked by traditional Breton ermine spots. The underside bears an underglaze blue painted mark consisting of a stylized fish or eye-shaped outline containing a monogrammed 'M' intersected by vertical and diagonal lines, positioned above the numbers '1807'. The monogram is not legible as a maker's name. Height: Approximately 9 inches.
