6 20th Century Scottish Thistle Sterling silver Spoons - A set of six Scottish sterling silver coffee spoons - NO RESERVE Total weight 69.04g Like this beautiful set of six solid Sterling Silver Thistle teaspoons, made by Francis Howard Ltd in Edinburgh in 1961. The spoons are crafted from solid sterling silver with oval bowls and slender tapering stems. Each handle is constructed with openwork piercing, terminating in a central thistle finial flanked by scrolling foliate motifs. A vertical row of three small circular indentations is positioned at the base of each stem. The reverse of the bowls features four stamped marks. These include an initial mark consisting of the letters F H within a circular punch, a thistle symbol, a three-towered castle, and a stylized lowercase Gothic r in a shaped cartouche. The initials are not legible as a name.
