Dutch Batavus Wooden Skates and Indian Brick Molds - A collection of vintage utilitarian items comprising a pair of wooden ice skates and two double-compartment brick molds. The skates are a traditional Dutch style known as Friese doorlopers, featuring carved wooden platforms, likely beech or ash, mounted with steel blades. Each skate retains its original brown leather binding straps and metal buckles. The steel blade of one skate is stamped with a rectangular mark reading BATAVUS HEERENVEEN in two lines of capital letters. The two wooden brick molds are constructed from hardwood with iron strap reinforcements and metal corner brackets. The interior of one mold contains two oval wooden relief blocks with the mirrored characters BK 2. The second mold contains two diamond-shaped wooden relief blocks with the mirrored characters B P R. The wood grain on both molds shows heavy industrial weathering and natural splitting.
