A Pair of Antique Steel Odell Latch Keys - A pair of antique latch keys crafted from steel, featuring a distinctive geometric bit design. Each key is constructed with an oval-shaped bow and a short shank accented by two decorative collars. The bits are designed with a complex internal cutout pattern forming a series of right-angled wards, a style characteristic of the Odell pattern. One specimen retains a dark, oxidized brown finish while the other has been cleaned to reveal a bright steel surface. Invented in 1792 and used right up until 1972 these were the latch keys to the communl doors on tenanments in both Edinburgh & Glasgow
