Simpson-Lawrence Wooden and Chrome Ship Wheel - A vintage nautical ship steering wheel constructed from stained wood and polished chrome. Diameter of 60cm The wheel features a six-spoke design with turned wooden handles joined to a circular wooden frame. A wide, flat chrome ring is secured to the front face of the wheel with twelve slotted screws. The central hub is composed of polished chrome and features a heavy mounting plate on the reverse with a central shaft hole and a keyed slot. The center of the front hub bears a circular maker mark. It consists of a raised chrome cap with the text SIMPSON LAWRENCE stamped in a circular arrangement around a central stylized L device. The chrome components show signs of oxidation and pitting, particularly on the outer ring and the central cap. The wooden spokes and handles exhibit wear to the finish, with visible chips and loss of stain at the tips and edges.
