Shetland Silver Three Norns Brooch - A sterling silver openwork brooch featuring a mythological Norse motif. The circular piece is constructed from silver with an openwork design depicting three stylized swans. The reverse is fitted with a horizontal pin mechanism secured by a safety rolling-over-c-clasp. The metal displays a natural dark patina on the face and a pronounced iridescent multicolored toning across the reverse. The reverse features raised lettering identifying the figures as the Three Norns: Urd (Past), Verdandi (Present), and Skuld (Future). Two rectangular stamps are present on the reverse; one is impressed with the characters SS and the other is impressed with the word SILVER. The item is accompanied by a black presentation box with a satin lid lining printed with a stylized swan logo above the text SHETLAND SILVER and MADE IN THE SHETLAND ISLANDS SCOTLAND.
