20th Century Estyma Silver and Gold Plate Travel Alarm Clock - A mid-20th-century mechanical travel alarm clock featuring an auto-open sliding case mechanism. The rectangular case is constructed from silver and gold plate with a brushed finish to the exterior panels. When closed, the two halves meet at a central gold-plated vertical band. The front of the case is decorated with etched illustrations depicting a tropical underwater scene, featuring an angelfish and sea flora. The clock opens by sliding the outer panels apart to reveal a square timepiece and two fold-out gold-plated support feet. The square dial is finished in white with applied gold-plated Arabic numerals at the three, six, nine, and twelve o'clock positions, interspersed with baton hour markers and luminous dot indices. The dial is printed with the name ESTYMA below the twelve position and 4 JEWELS above the six position, with GERMANY marked at the lower edge. The reverse of the central movement housing features winding keys and adjustment knobs, with a sun and crescent moon symbol for slow and fast regulation and a stamped GERMANY mark on the interior of one foot.
