A Shetland Silver Gannet Pendant Necklace - A sterling silver pendant necklace depicting a gannet in flight, featuring a trace chain and a bolt ring clasp. The pendant is modeled as a seabird with outstretched wings and a bifurcated tail, suspended from a sterling silver trace chain. The bird's upper surfaces are textured with fine lines to represent plumage, while the underside remains relatively smooth. The chain is secured to the wingtips by small soldered jump rings and fastens with a standard spring-action bolt ring clasp. On the reverse of the pendant, there are four impressed marks. The uppermost is a maker's mark consisting of the letters 'SS' in a rectangular frame with rounded corners. Below this is a horizontal row of three hallmarks: a lion passant denoting sterling silver, a leopard's head for the London Assay Office, and a capital letter 'A' in a square shield.
