Ross Parkinson Carved Soapstone Loon Sculpture - A contemporary Canadian soapstone sculpture of an aquatic bird, likely a loon, by artist Ross Parkinson. The piece is carved from a single block of mottled green soapstone, featuring dark inclusions and lighter veining throughout. The form is highly stylized with a minimalist, organic silhouette that emphasizes smooth, flowing contours from the arched neck to the tapered tail. The bird is depicted in a floating posture with a flattened underside. The flat base of the sculpture bears two hand-incised markings. The first line is inscribed Ross and the second line is inscribed PARKINSON.
