Moe Pootoogook Signed Inuit Serpentine Dancing Bear Sculpture - A contemporary Inuit stone sculpture of a dancing bear hand-carved from green serpentine. The work is executed in a dynamic, balanced pose, with the bear standing on one hind leg while its front limbs and remaining hind leg are extended outwards. The stone is a mottled green serpentine featuring natural brown and grey inclusions, finished to a high-gloss polish across the rounded muscular forms. The face is detailed with incised lines for the mouth and eyes, and the paws feature deep vertical grooves to define the claws. The underside of the balancing foot bears a hand-incised signature in white characters reading MOE Pootoogook. This piece is a verified work by the Kinngait artist Moe Pootoogook.
