Bidspirit auction | A Collection of Three Brooches

A Collection of Three Brooches - A collection of three vintage brooches comprising two sterling silver examples and one gold cluster brooch. The first silver brooch is a scalloped oval frame set with a large, oval faceted smoky quartz-colored stone held by four prongs. The frame is accented with a border of small, round-cut marcasites. The reverse side bears an impressed mark consisting of five characters, where the central three are readable as 925, signifying sterling silver. One small marcasite appears to be missing from the lower-right edge of the frame. The second silver brooch is an openwork bar design featuring Edwardian-style scrolled foliate filigree. It is centered with an oval faceted light blue stone, accented throughout the frame with numerous rose-cut marcasites. The reverse of the frame features impressed marks that are not clearly legible as a specific maker or purity. Both silver brooches utilize hinged pins with safety C-clasps. The third brooch is a tiered cluster design featuring a central purple cabochon with a chatoyant effect, surrounded by an inner tier of clear rhinestones and an outer tier of purple rhinestones. The piece is constructed from gold base metal with a circular frame on the reverse and a simple hinged C-clasp. Significant green oxidation is present on the reverse of the settings, and several rhinestones in the outer tier show signs of darkening or foil degradation.
