A Pair of F. Robson Watercolor Harbor Scenes - A pair of maritime harbor scenes executed in watercolor on paper, depicting traditional sailing vessels in Dutch ports. The works are rendered in a detailed representational style with a palette of muted blues, earthy browns, and terracotta reds. The first composition features a two-masted vessel moored at a stone quay with a castle structure positioned on a verdant hill in the background. The second work displays a cluster of red-roofed buildings and a prominent church spire overlooking two masted boats. Both pieces are professionally mounted behind light tan textured mats and housed in matching wooden frames with gilded inner borders. Each watercolor is signed in the lower right corner with a painted signature reading ”F. Robson” followed by a distinctive underlined flourish. The reverse of the frames feature handwritten paper labels identifying the locations as ”Near Zaandyke, Holland” and ”Along the River Maas, Holland.” A printed adhesive label on the back of the River Maas scene reads ”FRAMED BY J. E. WILMOT PITTERS FARMHOUSE. SANDY LANE CHIPPENHAM SN15 2QQ BROMHAM 850314.” The Zaandyke scene bears a partially torn white label with the printed word ”RESTORED.”.
