19th Century G. Woolliscroft & Co. Porcelain Dinner Service - A large Victorian porcelain dinner service featuring a pale turquoise and white color scheme with gilt highlights. The service is comprised of multiple stacked dinner plates, rimmed soup bowls, salad plates, and bread and butter plates, alongside a substantial collection of serving pieces. Included are two large circular lidded tureens with underplates, an oval lidded tureen with underplate, a small lidded sauce tureen, and a large oval serving platter. The pieces are characterized by a wide seafoam green border framed by two bands of gilding, with an inner repeating stylized foliate border. The serving vessels feature ornate molded relief work in the form of scrolls, ribbons, and acanthus leaves, all finished with hand-applied gilding. The finials are shaped as decorative tied bows. The base of one piece bears a brown printed mark inside a shield shape containing the characters G & Co followed by a superscript o. Below this is a large stylized W. To the left of the shield is a small grid containing four dots. These marks correspond to the manufacturer George Woolliscroft of Hanley and Etruria, Staffordshire.
