A Trio of 19th Century Jordan and Sons Limited Japanned Steel Deed Boxes - Three 19th-century antique black-japanned deed boxes used for the storage of legal documents and estate records. Each trunk is constructed from tinned sheet steel with a black painted finish and features heavy brass hardware. The group includes two top-opening boxes and one front-opening box with internal stay chains and a drop-down lid. All boxes are fitted with integrated locks and side-mounted carry handles. The interior of the drop-down lid contains an oval brass plaque which reads JORDAN and SONS / LIMITED / MANUFACTURERS / BELLYARD / TEMPLE BAR, LONDON. The exterior surfaces feature gilt-stenciled lettering reading MRS. DORA BRYANT over a large painted white cross, Exor of / S. W. BRYANT, deced, and W. G. L. POWELL. No keys are present for the locks.
