18th Century Walnut Chest of Drawers - An 18th-century chest of drawers featuring a traditional two-over-three configuration. The piece is constructed with figured walnut veneers and cross-banded borders on the drawer fronts and top surface. The secondary wood is thick-section pine, visible in the hand-cut dovetail joinery of the drawer sides and bottoms. A distinctive double-bead or D-moulding is applied to the carcass rails between the drawers, characteristic of construction techniques from the William and Mary to Queen Anne period. The chest is fitted with brass engraved butterfly-style drop handles and matching brass escutcheons. Iron locks remain in place behind the keyholes of the three full-width drawers. The unit stands on four bracket feet.
