Bidspirit auction | Victoria Ware Ironstone Chinoiserie Pitcher

Victoria Ware Ironstone Chinoiserie Pitcher and Basin - A two-piece wash set comprising a large water pitcher and a matching deep basin crafted from white ironstone. The pitcher features a globose body with a wide, scalloped rim and a scrolled handle. The matching basin has a deep, flared form with a coordinating scalloped edge. Both pieces are decorated with a cobalt blue transfer-printed Chinoiserie pattern depicting pagodas, willow trees, bridges, and boats in a traditional landscape. A distinctive fish-scale or diaper-patterned border accents the pitcher's rim and the interior rim of the bowl. The underside of both the pitcher and the basin features a blue transfer-printed mark. The mark consists of a royal coat of arms with a lion and unicorn supporter surrounding a central crest. A ribbon banner below the crest is printed with the words VICTORIA WARE, and the word IRONSTONE is printed directly beneath the banner. Several small kiln debris marks and firing specks are visible on the base and interior surfaces, typical of mass-produced earthenware.
