Hurrem Sultan I - Original Acrylic painting on Canvas

Description: This painting was inspired by the story of Hurrem Sultan, a bold ottoman queen of Suleiman the Magnificent. She was given as a slave to the Sultan and entered the harem. But oh no! She wasn't having any of that. She was determined that if she was going to be in that harem, suleiman will not touch any other woman except her. She battled and fought her way through, she saw off all her rivals and rose to become the legal wife of the Sultan , with her son as the successor. I was greatly inspired by the culture of the ottoman period, the textures, the clothings, the head gears and by the incredible story of hurrem who against all odds made a name for herself in history.
