UK 1971 Official Proof Coin Set, Cupro-Nickel and Bronze - An official decimal coin set issued by the Royal Mint in 1971 to commemorate the decimalisation of the currency in the United Kingdom. The set is presented in its original black foam and plastic display case with a clear protective cover, housed in a black cardboard outer sleeve featuring white dot-matrix text reading THE DECIMAL COINAGE OF GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN IRELAND 1971. A rectangular copper-toned plaque at the top of the display case is inscribed ROYAL MINT and features the Royal Arms. The collection includes six denominations struck in cupro-nickel and bronze: a heptagonal 50 New Pence piece, a 10 New Pence, a 5 New Pence, a 2 New Pence, a 1 New Penny, and a 1/2 New Penny.
