UK 1970 Coinage of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Proof Set - A 1970 United Kingdom pre-decimal proof coin set issued by the Royal Mint. The set comprises eight coins and a rectangular bronze-coloured plaque featuring the Royal Coat of Arms and the inscription ROYAL MINT. The denominations included are a half crown, two shillings, two one shilling pieces (one with the English crest and one with the Scottish crest), a sixpence, a brass threepence, a bronze penny, and a bronze halfpenny. The coins are struck in cupro-nickel, nickel-brass, and bronze. Each piece displays proof strike characteristics including mirror-like fields and frosted relief.
