A Four-Coin Set of UK Royal Mint Silver Proof Piedfort One Pound Coins 1997-2000 - A collection of four United Kingdom silver proof piedfort one pound coins dated 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000. Each specimen is struck by the Royal Mint in sterling silver (.925) to a double-thickness piedfort specification. The obverse of each coin features the fourth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley. The reverse designs represent the heraldic emblems of the four nations of the United Kingdom: the three lions of England (1997), the lion rampant of Scotland (1998), the Celtic cross and flax for Northern Ireland (1999), and the Welsh dragon (2000). The coins are individually housed in clear protective plastic capsules and presented in the original Royal Mint dark blue velvet-lined case with a white silk lid liner bearing the Royal Mint crest.
