An Imari Style Ginger Jar and Domed Cover - A ceramic ginger jar and matching domed cover, of baluster form with a wide shoulder tapering to a slightly flared foot. The exterior is decorated in a traditional Imari palette featuring underglaze blue, overglaze red enamels, and gilt highlights. The decoration is divided into alternating lobed panels; one set depicts a basket of flowers containing thistles and chrysanthemums, while the opposing panels show a large stylised floral blossom set against a dark blue ground. The neck and foot are finished with gilt scrolling patterns on a cobalt blue reserve. The lid matches the body decoration and is topped with a bud-shaped finial. No maker's marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item. Height: 23cm.
