A British Brass and Steel Miner's Flame Safety Lamp, Numbered 129 - A British miner's flame safety lamp constructed from brass and steel with a clear glass cylinder. The lamp features a cylindrical steel bonnet with a series of circular ventilation holes at the upper edge, surmounted by a flat steel cap and an integrated iron carrying hook. The central section is comprised of the clear glass cylinder supported by five vertical brass pillars. The lower section consists of a brass oil font housing a flat wick burner and an internal pricker mechanism for flame adjustment. A large, blank oval brass plate is affixed to the front of the bonnet. Two smaller oval brass tags, one applied to the top of the bonnet and one to the side of the base, are both punched with the number 129. No maker's marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
