Each frame contains 25 cards mounted behind maroon matting with gold-gilt inner slips. The cards feature chromolithographic illustrations depicting various ranks and uniforms of the British Army, Royal Navy, and Royal Household. Legible printed inscriptions at the base of the cards include BUGLER, COLDSTREAM GUARDS; ROYAL HORSE ARTILLERY; COAST BRIGADE, ROYAL ARTILLERY; 5TH ROYAL IRISH LANCERS; BLACK WATCH; and SEAFORTH HIGHLANDERS.
