The exterior of the body and matching lid are decorated with a hand-painted fruit still life depicting apples and grapes against a mottled ground. The handle, spout, and lid finial are finished with gilding. The base bears a green printed circular mark reading BARON BEST QUALITY CHINA STAFFS LTD GOLD FINE HAND PAINTED CHINA COLLECTORS PIECE, which encloses a device of a crown and two crossed paintbrushes. The underside is also hand-inscribed in black script APPLES & GRAPES BY DOUG HAGUE, and the fruit scene on the body is signed D. HAGUE near the base.
