The barrel is formed from vertical wooden staves secured by two horizontal metal bands at the rim and base. The exterior is decorated with double-incised horizontal lines and features a shield-shaped metal cartouche pinned to the front. The item is fitted with a flat-topped metal lid featuring a central baluster-style knob and an arched swinging handle attached to the top rim. The interior contains a removable cream-coloured ceramic liner with a flared rim.
