Cook Islands 1975 Franklin Mint Seven Coin Proof Set - This lot comprises a set of seven metal proof coins from the Cook Islands, dated 1975. The set includes denominations of one dollar, fifty cents, twenty cents, ten cents, five cents, two cents, and one cent. Each coin features a mirror-like proof finish with frosted relief. The obverses depict a portrait of a monarch with the legend ELIZABETH II COOK ISLANDS 1975. The reverse of the one dollar coin shows a TANGAROA figure with the legend $1 $1; the fifty cent coin features a fish with the legend 50; the twenty cent coin depicts a bird with the legend 20; the ten cent coin shows a coconut crab with the legend 10; the five cent coin features a hibiscus flower with the legend 5; the two cent coin depicts a pineapple with the legend 2; and the one cent coin shows a taro leaf with the legend 1. The coins are housed in a clear acrylic protective holder within an orange velvet-lined presentation case. The interior lid is printed in gold-coloured lettering GOVERNMENT OF THE COOK ISLANDS, COOK ISLANDS PROOF SET, and MINTED AT THE FRANKLIN MINT. An accompanying paper Certificate of Authenticity is printed with THE 1975 COINS OF THE COOK ISLANDS, dated DEC 1 1975, and bears the printed signature SIR ALBERT HENRY, K.B.E. The reverse of the certificate includes a table of specifications and the text THE FRANKLIN MINT, FRANKLIN CENTER, PENNSYLVANIA 19091. The certificate lists the ten cent coin design as ORANGES IN A CLUSTER OF LEAVES, however, the coin in this set depicts a crab.
